Job summary

Bluegate, a growing custom architectural lighting manufacturer in Miami, seeks an Industrial Designer with advanced Rhino 3D proficiency, strong mechanical design skills, and hands-on manufacturing experience.

The candidate will transform sketches into manufacturable products, design complex assemblies, and collaborate directly with fabrication teams to bring ambitious concepts to life, including 3D printing, CNC, sheet metal, and molding considerations.

Qualifications

• Advanced Rhino 3D proficiency with complex NURBS surfaces and solids.
• Strong mechanical design aptitude with fasteners, joints, tolerances and assemblies.
• Hands-on experience with 3D printing, prototyping, or additive manufacturing.
• Experience designing products or components that have been physically manufactured.
• Ability to create and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong spatial reasoning, problem solving, and attention to detail.
• Comfortable collaborating directly with fabrication and production personnel.
• Portfolio demonstrating technical design ability and real‑world mechanical or manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex 3D models, curved surfaces, and geometric assemblies using Rhino 3D.
• Transform concepts and drawings into manufacturable products.
• Design mechanical connections, brackets, joints, mounting systems, and alignment features.
• Develop multipart assemblies with tolerances and fastening methods.
• Design functional 3D-printed components, prototypes, molds and tooling.
• Divide large designs into printable components that join accurately.
• Prepare products for CNC machining, laser cutting, sheet metal, bending and welding.
• Create and review technical drawings and fabrication documentation.
• Lead 3D drafting activities and coordinate with CAD staff.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams on prototyping, assembly, and improvements.
