Johns Hopkins University Bayview campus seeks a Research Specialist to perform assays and experiments relevant to ongoing research. The role requires interpreting results, contributing to protocol development, and training new lab members as part of a dynamic team in the SOM Bay Rheumatology group.

The position involves data processing for publications, collaborating with investigators, and supporting equipment and protocol improvements in a fast-paced lab setting at Johns Hopkins Bayview.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
• One year of laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience or education per JHU equivalency formula.

Responsabilités

• Plan and run experiments after discussion with investigators and modify protocols within allowed parameters.
• Interpret results using specialized knowledge; read controls and evaluate results.
• Assess whether components of experiments are functioning as expected using laboratory knowledge.
• Train and orient learners and new staff in the laboratory.
• Assist in development of new techniques and instruments.
• Consult published methods and discuss with senior staff and investigators to stay current.
• Process analyzed data into figures for scientific publications.
• May order equipment and supplies and interface with vendors.
