Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a Research Specialist to perform a range of assays and experiments in a laboratory setting. You will contribute to various research efforts, troubleshoot routine issues, and help train others in the lab.

Key duties include planning and running experiments, interpreting results, developing techniques, and preparing data for publications. Location is the School of Medicine Campus with standard work hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
• One year of laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
• Education/experience may substitute per JHU equivalency formula.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run experiments after discussion with investigators.
• Modify protocols within investigator parameters.
• Interpret results using specialized knowledge.
• Evaluate whether components of experiments work as expected.
• Train/orient learners and new staff in the lab.
• Assist in development of new techniques and instruments.
• Familiarize with published methods and discuss with senior staff.
• Process data into figures for publications.
• Order equipment and interface with vendors.
• Facilitate problem solving for entry-level lab members.
• Contribute to protocol development, efficiency and productivity.
• Contribute to writing manuscripts and grants by writing methods.
• Other duties as assigned.
