Job summary

Critical Solutions is seeking a RHEL NMS Engineer in Norfolk, VA, to design, deploy, and support an enterprise network management system. You will blend RHEL 8 back-end operations with NMS tool administration, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and scalable telemetry processing.

The role requires active DoD Secret clearance, on-site work, and hands-on experience with SNMP, NetFlow, and automated configuration using Ansible. Salary ranges from $85,000 to $110,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Network Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Hands-on experience administering RHEL 8 environments (RHCSA or RHCE preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of systemd, logging (rsyslog, journald), and troubleshooting utilities (top, iotop, netstat, tcpdump).
• Deep knowledge of networking protocols including SNMP v3, Syslog, SSH, ICMP, NetFlow, TACACS+/RADIUS.
• Proficiency in Ansible and scripting (Python, Bash) to run configuration as code.

Responsibilities

• RHEL 8 back-end operations and system administration.
• OS lifecycle management for RHEL 8 servers hosting core NMS apps.
• Kernel and performance tuning for high telemetry data intake.
• Patching and vulnerability mitigation using Red Hat Satellite or repos.
• Automation and IaC for provisioning and task automation.
• Enforce security policies and STIG compliance for the monitoring platform.
• Manage storage and LVM for high-write NMS databases.
• Deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot NMS applications.
• Data integration between NMS engines, CMDB, and ITSM.
• Configure polling, NetFlow, and alerting to minimize outages.
