Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Management Systems Engineer for a long-term DoD program. 100% onsite in Norfolk, VA, the role focuses on Linux infrastructure, NMS platforms, and enterprise network monitoring to ensure high availability and reliability.

You will administer RHEL 8 servers, manage NNMi, Network Automation, and other NMS tools, and implement automation via Ansible and scripting. A Secret clearance and DoD experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, network management, or related infrastructure engineering.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise Network Management Systems.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.
• Experience deploying, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting enterprise NMS platforms.
• Experience with NNMi, Network Automation, Cisco Catalyst Center, Arista CloudVision, or Aruba AirWave.
• Strong understanding of SNMP/SNMPv3, Syslog, SSH, ICMP, NetFlow, and TACACS+/RADIUS.
• Experience configuring SNMP MIBs, traps, polling, thresholds, alerts, and network monitoring workflows.
• Experience with Linux system administration (systemd, rsyslog, journald, LVM, storage).
• Experience with Ansible and scripting in Python or Bash.
• Experience supporting security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and DISA STIG compliance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot RHEL 8 servers supporting enterprise NMS.
• Monitor and optimize Linux performance and storage for NMS.
• Manage NMS platforms including NNMi, Network Automation, Catalyst Center, CloudVision, AirWave.
• Configure and maintain network monitoring capabilities: SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, IPFIX, ICMP.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and Python/Bash scripts for automation.
• Support security controls, STIG compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
• Collaborate with network engineering, cybersecurity, and ITSM teams.
