Job summary

TÜV SÜD America Inc. in New Brighton, MN is seeking a Technician to join the RF Service Line. You will contribute to wireless testing programs, performing ETSI/FCC tests, and documenting results.

Training is provided; technician level or engineer level depending on experience, with opportunities to develop skills in RF measurement and regulatory compliance. Onsite work, 40 hours/week, weekends as needed.

Qualifications

A desire to learn new skills and willingness to understand new disciplines.
Basic understanding of IT and/or electronics.
Ability to work independently and be proactive.
Experience with RF test equipment and RF testing standards.
Education: Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
Good understanding of IT equipment from previous roles.

Responsibilities

Test wireless products to ETSI and FCC standards in lab and on-site.
Record results accurately and generate test reports per procedures.
Work with customers during attended testing and liaise with PM.
Develop test methods and contribute to department documentation.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, hours TBD, 2nd/3rd weekends once trained

Working as part of a team of Wireless Test Technicians and Engineers, you will contribute to the provision of a Wireless testing service, specifically performing RF (Radio Frequency) testing on a large variety of IoT Wireless technologies, such as WLAN 802.11, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Cellular (GSM / W-CDMA / LTE / 5G NR), SRD 433/868MHz, VHF, etc. We have a flexible approach to our recruitment and are able to consider candidates at a Technician level (offering training to an entry level candidate) or engage a more experienced candidate at an Engineer level role. Duties and Responsibilities - What will you be doing?

Testing of wireless products to various test standards (the most common being ETSI and FCC) both within the wireless test labs at Octagon House and in-situ at the customer’s premises.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements or defined test plan supplied by the customer.
Accurate recording test results using electronic logbook systems / production of test reports, following company quality procedures.
Working with customers during attended testing.
Close liaison with the Project Manager to ensure work is carried out accurately and within the timescales allowed.
Development of test methods and other departmental documentation.

What are we looking for?

Essential Criteria For Technician Level Role

A desire to learn new skills and willing to understand new disciplines
Basic understanding of IT and/or Electronics
Ability to work independently and be proactive

Role

In addition to the above criteria, for an Engineer level role we would also require one or more of the following:

Experience of using RF test equipment such as spectrum/network analyser, oscilloscope, signal generator, RF power meter etc.
Knowledge of Radiated and/or Conducted testing, predominantly working to FCC and/or ETSI standards

Highly Desirable Criteria For Either Technician Or Engineer Role

Educated to Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or be able to demonstrate equivalent and relevant experience.
Good understanding of IT equipment from previous job roles.
