Job summary

The Boring Company is seeking an RF Systems Engineer to own the design and development of radar, sonar, seismic, and other RF sensing for tunnel boring machines. You will work directly with manufacturing, mechanical, controls, and field teams to design RF systems that are practical to build, operate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve.

You will perform first-principles analysis and physics simulations to drive component selection and system feasibility to the desired performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Electrical/Software/Aerospace).
• Experience designing RF sensing systems, preferably radar/tracking in challenging propagation environments.
• Strong antenna design and RF component knowledge, timing, synchronization, and attenuation concepts.
• Hardware-software integration experience in autonomous or sensor-driven systems.
• Rugged or construction/industrial environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical and software design of RF and wave-physics systems for tunnel boring machines, including radar and imaging.
• Perform first-principles analysis and physics simulations to guide component selection and feasibility.
• Develop and execute test campaigns in the lab and field to de-risk designs for production.
• Drive rapid iteration in a vertically integrated team, turning concepts into usable hardware-software solutions.
