Job summary

MACOM is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern in Lowell, MA for a 12-week program. You will support packaging and mechanical design from concept through production release, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective, high-volume manufacturability.

Responsibilities include creating drawings, reports, and documentation; working with internal teams and suppliers; and contributing to design reviews while learning manufacturing processes and quality controls.

Qualifications

• MS or BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical design tools is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support micro-electronic packaging and mechanical design under supervision.
• Collaborate with product design, QA, reliability, and suppliers to qualify processes.
• Develop manufacturing drawings and design reports for releases.
• Assist in vendor qualification and process improvements for high-volume production.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews and maintain schedules.
