Job summary

National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) at the University of Nebraska is seeking RF Data Scientists to analyze terabyte-scale RF datasets from deployed sensing systems for DoD and USG sponsors. You will develop tools to automate data ingestion, processing, and analysis workflows, and deliver findings to mission teams.

The role requires strong quantitative and programming skills, independent work habits, and travel to government facilities and NSRI sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, CS, EE, or related).
  • 2-5+ years in data science, analytics, RF analytics, large-scale data processing, or related.
  • Experience with RF data, signal processing, spectrum data, or EM datasets.
  • Exposure to anomaly detection, pattern recognition, or ML on sensor data.
  • Familiarity with big data processing frameworks or cloud/HPC environments.
  • Experience supporting DoD/DoW or USG sensor data programs.
  • Experience building data visualization tools or dashboards.
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze terabyte-scale RF datasets from deployed sensing systems.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalous RF presence in large datasets.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software tools to automate data ingestion, processing, and analysis workflows.
  • Develop analytical pipelines to improve speed, accuracy, and repeatability of RF data processing.
  • Collaborate with field teams and program leadership to align analysis with mission requirements.
  • Deliver timely analytical products and reports per deadlines and sponsor needs.
  • Maintain data handling, security, and documentation in line with government standards.
  • Document methods, tools, and workflows for repeatability and knowledge transfer.
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
