Job summary

Sofidel America is seeking a Converting Assistant Rewinder Operator in the Twin Ports region. You will work closely with the Machine Operator to learn essential machine operation skills and support GMP/HACCP compliance.

This hands-on role includes setting up and monitoring rewinder/downstream equipment and performing quality checks. Ideal candidates have manufacturing experience or strong interest for a long-term team-based career.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and quality manuals.
• Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Prior manufacturing or operating experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn machine operation under the guidance of the Machine Operator.
• Support GMP and HACCP guidelines to maintain a safe, hygienic workplace.
• Apply customer specifications to machine operation to meet requirements.
• Program and monitor control panels; calculate core size, roll diameters, and required footage.
• Set up, operate, and adjust the rewinder and downstream equipment to meet production quotas.
• Program the log saw, clamp products, and verify cut accuracy with adjustments as needed.
• Perform hourly quality checks and submit daily quality reports to QA; assist with changeovers.
• Collaborate with Rapid Changeover Technicians for changes and adjustments.
• Maintain clean, organized work area following lean initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Machine Operator under their guidance and direction to learn essential machine operation skills.
• Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP guidelines to maintain a safe and hygienic workplace.
• Apply customer specifications to machine operation to ensure finished products meet customer requirements.
• Program and monitor computerized operating panels, calculate core size, roll diameters, required footage, and perforation.
• Set up, operate, and adjust the rewinder and downstream equipment to meet production quotas.
• Program the log saw, clamp products in the log saw, and verify cut accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
• Perform hourly quality checks, submit daily quality reports to the QA department, and assist with product change-overs.
• Collaborate with Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs) for change-overs and adjustments.
• Adjust embossing units and core chucks as required.
• Maintain open communication with the quality, maintenance, and supervision teams.
• Demonstrate leadership skills consistently.
• Keep the work area clean and organized, adhering to lean initiatives.

Job Requirements:

• High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
• Basic computer skills.
• Prior experience preferred but not necessarily required in unique circumstances.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and quality manuals.
• Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

PPE is required in the plant and warehouse areas, including safety shoes, eye and ear protection, high‑visibility vests, and hairnets or hats. Plant temperatures vary by season, and employees are exposed to paper dust and noise levels that require hearing protection.
