Job summary

Actalent, Inc. is seeking a certified Pharmacy Technician Intake for a contract position in Cary, NC. The role focuses on reviewing referrals, verifying prescription details, and creating patient provider records to ensure accurate and efficient processing.

You will collaborate with healthcare providers, maintain high-accuracy data entry, and support cross-functional teams to ensure patient access to specialty medications. This is an onsite, Monday-Friday position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Active registration with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP).

As a Pharmacy Technician Intake, you'll play a critical role in the patient journey by reviewing referrals, verifying prescription information, creating patient profiles, and partnering with providers to ensure every referral is processed accurately and efficiently. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will directly impact patient outcomes and access to life-changing therapies

What You'll Do
  • Review incoming referrals to ensure all required information is complete, accurate, and ready for processing.
  • Create and maintain patient and provider records within pharmacy systems.
  • Verify prescription information for completeness and accuracy prior to processing.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions, resolve missing information, and provide referral status updates.
  • Accurately document referral activity and progress notes to support seamless workflow across teams.
  • Enter and maintain provider information, including National Provider Identifier (NPI) data.
  • Perform high-volume data entry while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support timely patient access to specialty medications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve referral-related issues using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Support additional pharmacy operations and patient access initiatives as needed.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification in good standing.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP).
  • Prior experience working in a pharmacy environment.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of pharmacy operations experience.
  • Specialty pharmacy, medication access, or referral processing experience.
  • Experience in a call center or high-volume healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with provider data management and NPI systems.
  • Strong documentation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Healthcare industry experience beyond pharmacy operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a professional, call center-style specialty pharmacy setting where team members collaborate to help patients access critical medications. Most communication occurs through phone and electronic systems, with no direct face-to-face patient interaction.

The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST and is closed on weekends and major holidays. During the initial reverification project period, the schedule will be onsite Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. After project completion, schedules may transition to 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with potential hybrid work opportunities for permanent team members based on business needs.

Pay & Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
