Job summary

State of Iowa's Office of the Attorney General seeks a Section Chief for the Revenue Section in the Agency Counsel Division. You will supervise about a dozen lawyers and staff and serve as the lead representative to the Iowa Department of Revenue, handling tax, lottery, ABD, and tobacco compliance matters.

The role requires five years of practice law, admission to Iowa and federal courts, and strong statutory construction and advisory skills.

Qualifications

• Five years of legal experience; admitted to Iowa bar and able to practice in Iowa and federal/bankruptcy courts.
• Experience drafting advice for government bodies and advising on tax, lottery, ABD and tobacco compliance.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for client service and litigation support.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Revenue Section (about a dozen lawyers and staff).
• Represent the Department of Revenue before courts and administrative tribunals; provide legal advice on agency operations.
