Job summary

WellSpan Health in York County, PA seeks a Revenue Cycle Specialist to perform assigned billing tasks and assist with submitting electronic/manual insurance claims. The role focuses on denial resolution and appeals to achieve timely payments across payer regulations.

The position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday dayshift, with responsibilities across hospital and professional billing follow-up. Experience in medical billing and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
• 1 year of relevant experience in hospital billing, professional billing, or follow-up/denials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on patient accounts billed to insurance to determine reasons for delays.
• Investigate denied or rejected claims and review remittance advice to identify denial reasons.
• Collaborate with insurance carriers and internal teams to obtain information to resolve claims.
• Document findings and actions taken to resolve denials or delays in payment.
• Initiate and manage appeals or resubmissions of denied claims as needed.
• Communicate with payors to follow up on outstanding claims and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records of follow-up activities and payment status in the billing system.
• Identify trends in denials and recommend process improvements.
