Responsible for complex data analysis activities to support revenue cycle operations at the enterprise, regional and local business levels. This position is expected to lead reporting and analytical work for various projects, revenue cycle business needs, and reporting/data production including identifying and initiating analysis of performance improvement opportunities with limited supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Mathematics/Statistics, Information Technology/Computer Science, or Healthcare Administration or related field.
  • This position will require an EPIC official designation of “Proficient” within the new hire probationary period.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of experience in business analysis or similar role required.
  • One (1) year of experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL/Oracle) and/or Business Objects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  • Lean Six Sigma Experience and Certification.
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) with the Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in Revenue Cycle preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.   • Leads data and reporting initiatives for internal revenue cycle operations.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the data base structure and business intelligence tools to create required analytical solutions.
  • Creates requirements documents for reporting and data requests. Stays up to date on operational and industry changes that warrant reporting adjustments and initiates enhancements to accommodate.
  • Develops data solutions to existing business process problems. Provides analytical insights from data to drive strategic business decisions.
  • Remains current with and documents how information is collected, maintained and reported in all key systems and considers impacts to existing data solutions. Uses analytical methods to ensure reported data is meaningful and accurate.
  • Maintains reporting skills on StrataJazz, EPIC Reporting Workbench, Epic Cubes, Tableau, and other systems as needed. Trains end users on reporting and self-serve capabilities.
  • Performs complex calculations using statistical methods.
  • Demonstrates technical ability in data analytics using various systems and tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP products.
  • Promotes and contributes positively to the teamwork of the department by assisting co-workers, contributing ideas and problem- solving with co-workers.
  • Leads performance improvement initiatives and establishes task forces for accelerated and focused root cause analysis and action planning.
  • Monitors data against regional and national benchmarks as well as industry leading key performance indicators and suggests improvements to reach top quartile industry performance.
  • Configures monthly revenue cycle dashboards and other performance metrics. Identifies issue accounts based on data and shares with other analysts to resolve.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual data processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing data infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Completes ad hoc requests for reports, dashboards, or analyses from revenue cycle management.
  • Partners with data IT to create and validate data and reporting requests. Provides requirements for calculated fields, data sourcing and criteria for new report development and enhancements.

  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups and facilitate meetings.
  • Maintain growing knowledge of personal computers, EPIC, data software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with staff to resolve problems and correct deficiencies in processes related to revenue cycle workflows.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of third party payer regulations, revenue cycle functions, and electronic health records requirements.
