Axis Health System in Durango, CO seeks a Director of Revenue Cycle Management who will lead strategy and performance across patient access, coding, billing, denials, and collections. This leader will collaborate with executives, clinicians, and external vendors to strengthen financial sustainability and equitable patient experience.

The role requires 10+ years in revenue cycle leadership, knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare and payer requirements, and experience with NextGen or similar EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 10+ years revenue cycle experience with leadership across multiple functions.
• Experience across multiple service lines and payer types preferred.
• Nonprofit/community clinic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi-year revenue cycle strategy aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
• Lead end-to-end revenue cycle operations across integrated service lines with clear accountability for quality, productivity, service, and financial outcomes.
• Improve net revenue, cash flow, clean claim rates, AR aging, denial rates, collection yield, and cost to collect while ensuring equity in access to care.
• Build patient-centered processes for registration, eligibility, enrollment support, verification, prior authorization, coding, claims submission and follow-up.
• Ensure consistent revenue cycle workflows across primary care, behavioral health, dental, and pharmacy.
• Direct denial prevention and recovery using root-cause analysis, payer escalation, and staff education.
• Establish dashboards, forecasts, and operating reviews to translate data into timely decisions for leadership and the board.
• Collaborate with finance on month-end close, revenue estimates, reserves, reconciliations, and grant/program reporting.
• Work with clinical and operational leaders to improve documentation, coding, and workflows at the point of service.
• Maintain compliance with billing, coding, privacy, payer, regulatory, sliding-fee, and financial assistance requirements.
