Job description

About Seven Starling

Seven Starling is revolutionizing women's behavioral health through our clinically-validated virtual care platform. As a venture-backed, rapidly scaling startup at the forefront of maternal healthcare innovation, we've developed a groundbreaking clinical model that combines specialized therapy, peer support, and medication management to effectively treat perinatal mood disorders. Our approach delivers exceptional results — 90% of patients experience clinically significant symptom improvement.

We've established strategic partnerships with leading health plans including UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna, plus a growing network of OBGYN clinics nationwide, positioning us for accelerated growth in the $50B+ women's behavioral health market.

About The Role

We're looking for a detail oriented, highly organized Behavioral Health Revenue Cycle Coordinator to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a vital part in helping patients access care quickly and without delay by verifying insurance benefits and intake information and obtaining prior authorizations. You'll also serve as a key problem solver by identifying and correcting issues that prevent claims from being submitted or that result in denials. Additionally, you'll support patients directly by reconciling patient balances and responding to billing questions via email.

The ideal candidate brings a solid background in medical billing, with specific experience in behavioral health and telehealth claims, and billing both commercial and Medicaid payers. You're comfortable navigating denials, rejections, posting payments accurately, and calling payers directly when needed to resolve issues, keeping the revenue cycle moving smoothly from intake through payment.

What You'll Do

  • Verify patient insurance benefits and intake information using our system, with additional research through payer portals or direct calls to insurance companies as needed

  • Obtain necessary prior authorizations for our telehealth behavioral health services

  • Resolve any billing issues before they result in claim denials or prevent claims from being submitted to insurance

  • Identify and correct insurance benefit discrepancies, such as eligibility or benefit change issues, before they impact patient care

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to billing inquiries from patients, reconciling balances, and providing cost estimates via email

  • Handle end-to-end insurance billing, including overturning denials and rejections, and posting payments accurately

  • Track and follow up on unpaid claims, submit appeals for denials, and communicate with payers to resolve outstanding issues

  • Collaborate with clinical and support staff to ensure accurate documentation and patient communication

  • Support the development and implementation of billing best practices and process improvements

  • Maintain clear and professional communication with external vendors involved in the billing and claims process

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in behavioral health billing, preferably in a telehealth or behavioral health setting.

  • Experience billing both commercial and Medicaid payers

  • Experience verifying insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations

  • Understanding of the full revenue cycle process, from intake through payment

  • Experience identifying and resolving billing errors, claim rejections, and denials, including submitting appeals

  • Experience posting payments accurately and reconciling patient balances

  • Experience with billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and insurance policies related to behavioral health and telehealth services

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills, including experience coordinating with external vendors or payers

  • Certification in medical billing or coding preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Healthie, Candid, and Helpscout.

  • Familiarity with tools that enhance patient communication, billing automation, and customer support within a telehealth environment.

  • Comfort using CRM systems, support platforms, and patient management systems to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
