Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Revenue Cycle CDI Specialist to improve the accuracy and integrity of inpatient documentation. You will ensure documentation captures severity of illness, risk of mortality, and care complexity for every patient.

Daily duties include medical record reviews within 24–48 hours of admission, crafting compliant provider queries, and educating physicians and staff to elevate documentation quality in a remote/ adaptable environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing or HIM-related degree.
• Minimum 2 years acute care hospital clinical CDI experience.
• Minimum 2 years inpatient coding auditor experience.
• RN licensure (RN:XX) per facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely initial and follow-up medical record reviews to ensure accurate DRG assignments and RO mortality/severity of illness.
• Author and manage compliant provider queries per AHIMA/ACDIS standards.
• Educate multidisciplinary teams on documentation best practices to improve clinical representation.
• Collaborate with HIM Coding Professionals to facilitate documentation-to-coding workflows and DRG reconciliation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, CMS directives, and CDI trends.
• Lead educational sessions and present to clinical leadership.
