Meta is seeking a Revenue Controllership Manager to join the controllership function, owning the governance and technical accounting foundation beneath a rapidly evolving revenue landscape spanning advertising, messaging, subscriptions, and other revenue streams. We're looking for a technically skilled, improvement-minded leader who brings judgment to ambiguous accounting questions, thinks in terms of risk and control rather than checklists, and can make a complex revenue issue clear with finance leadership and cross-functional partners. You will be responsible for the governance framework, control environment, and technical accounting positions across assigned revenue streams, while actively leveraging AI and automation to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of how those controls operate. In this role, you will partner closely with cross-functional business partners, engineers, and the broader finance team, advising early on how new products, pricing models, and non-standard arrangements should be structured rather than accounting for outcomes after the fact. You will combine business acumen and governance foundation with technical accounting knowledge to influence outcomes across functions. This role is also built for someone eager to develop deep operational fluency in our revenue processes — and you will be supported in building that understanding on the job.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the governance framework and control environment over assigned SOX revenue streams, including control design, documentation, monitoring, remediation, and narrative and evidence standards
• Research, conclude, and document technical accounting positions under ASC 606 and related guidance for new products, pricing models, partner arrangements, and non-standard transactions
• Maintain a risk rated inventory of new and emerging revenue products, prioritizing governance depth against the highest risk arrangements rather than applying uniform review to every launch, and elevate the resulting prioritization to Controllership leadership
• Advise business partners early on deal and product structuring, providing a clear point of view on accounting consequences and proposing alternative structures that achieve business objectives with better accounting and control outcomes
• Assess how upstream system and process changes affect revenue recognition and the control environment, and translate those effects into accounting and control requirements
• Monitor developments in US GAAP affecting revenue recognition and drive the policy, process, and operational changes required to implement them; serve as a primary contact for Internal Audit and external auditors on revenue‑related walkthroughs, testing, and remediation
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives across Finance, Product, Engineering, Tax, Legal, and Business Operations, driving alignment and outcomes through influence rather than direct authority
• Build and deliver clear, well‑structured presentations of technical accounting conclusions, control status, and emerging issues to Controllership leadership and senior cross‑functional stakeholders — structuring the narrative, calibrating depth to the audience, and driving to a decision
• Proactively surface and pilot ideas leveraging AI and automation to reduce manual effort and strengthen control monitoring and evidence collection

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in revenue accounting, technical accounting, controllership, or public accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Big 4 audit, technical accounting, or risk advisory background
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Technical accounting background with demonstrated knowledge of ASC 606, including experience researching and documenting technical accounting conclusions
• Experience designing, documenting, or operating internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX
• Experience advising business partners on transaction or arrangement structuring, including proposing alternatives to achieve a desired accounting outcome
• Experience understanding complex products and systems‑driven, high‑volume transaction processes, and their related revenue accounting implications
• Experience building and presenting materials on complex accounting or control topics to senior finance leadership, including structuring a narrative that drives to a recommendation
• Experience communicating with cross‑functional and senior internal audiences, with the ability to distill complex concepts and analysis into concise, actionable conclusions
• Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and influencing outcomes without direct authority, while operating with ambiguity and exercising judgment on what requires control now versus later

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle ERP experience
• Experience with data analysis, process automation, and working with AI, SQL, Python, or similar tools
• Experience in a technology, advertising, payments, or subscription business with high‑volume, systems‑driven revenue
• Experience with Google Sheets, Google Slides, Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Google Data Studio
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

$142,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
