The Revenue Accounting Systems Architect is a strategic leader responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing revenue accounting systems to align with business objectives and operational efficiency. This role focuses on translating complex business requirements into functional system solutions, essentially acting as the technical expert for all finance-related system architecture within an organization, driving process improvements, and ensuring seamless integration across stakeholders. The architect is a key contributor in the creation of the product roadmap, acts as the primary liaison between Finance, IT, and vendors, prioritizing system integrity, compliance, and scalability. Bridges the gap between business finance needs and technology, designing and implementing financial systems by deeply understanding accounting principles, business processes, and relevant software platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Functional System Design & Process Optimization
- Requirement Translation: Convert business needs into detailed functional design documents, leveraging industry best practices and optimal solutions.
- Process Reengineering: Develop comprehensive functional architecture for revenue accounting systems, including defining data models, workflows, integrations, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Design and streamline financial processes like General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Cash Management, and Project Accounting by identifying areas for automation and efficiency., ensure the coherence between functionalities, a good appreciation of the production capacity as well as an accurate assessment of the technical challenges.
- System Lifecycle Management: Oversee end-to-end project phases, including scoping, requirements definition, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
- Compliance & Governance
- Regulatory Alignment: Ensure systems adhere to accounting standards and internal audit requirements.
- Change Management: Own system change governance, including prioritization, risk assessment, and approval of deployments to minimize disruptions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with IT, Vendors, Finance, and business units to align system upgrades with strategic goals.
- Strategic Advisory: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance system functionality and drive adoption of automation tools.
- Team Mentorship: Train and mentor business analysts, fostering expertise in system workflows and process documentation.
- Quality Assurance
- Test Strategy Ownership: Design and oversee an execute user acceptance testing (UAT) plans, ensuring changes meet functional and compliance standards.
- Defect Resolution: Collaborate with IT and Vendors to troubleshoot system issues, validate fixes, and maintain production stability.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Process Mapping: Develop and maintain detailed system flow diagrams, user guides, and process documentation.
- Maintain records of system changes and compliance checks.
- Reporting Solutions: Utilize tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI) to design operational and compliance reports for stakeholders.
- Vendor & Request Management
- Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with system vendors to resolve issues, prioritize enhancements, and align roadmaps.
- Request Triage: Evaluate and prioritize user/system requests based on business impact and resource capacity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree inIT, Accounting, Finance, or related field of study; or any combination of relevant background, skills and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting / financial system applications testing, data extractions and analysis. Strong knowledge of the accounting principles. Experience in project management on software development projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven ability to lead and manage finance system implementation projects from initiation to deployment.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of the project management models.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and planning skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and balance requests at peak workloads.
- Ability to guide and assist other departments.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and stay up to date with the latest trends.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.

This position is classified as “remote.” As a remote role, it allows employees to work full-time from their home. It may also require regular travel to Carnival headquarters in Miami, FL for in-office collaboration. Sourcing of candidates is primarily done in Carnival’s remote hubs of Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas. If the search is extended past those areas, candidates must be located in one of the following U.S. states: FL, GA, TX and NC
