Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager in San Francisco to own revenue accounting for consumption and usage-based revenue recognition, and to implement the systems, data flows, and accounting rules for accurate reporting. You will lead monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and controls, while coordinating cross-functional onboarding of revenue streams and ensuring audit readiness.

This role requires strong data fluency and a hands-on approach in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Public company SOX environment experience preferred.
• Experience with consumption/usage-based revenue recognition.
• Experience with marketplace arrangements, payment service providers, and cross-system revenue flows.
• Strong understanding of order-to-cash and multi-entity environments.
• Ability to translate transaction data into journal entries and reports.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close for usage-based revenue and related accounting.
• Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries and supporting documentation.
• Perform reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Lead flux analysis for revenue and related accounts with cross-functional partners.
• Document and maintain internal controls over revenue processes.
• Manage Fusion Accounting Hub rule updates and UAT / implementation activities.
• Assist with internal and external audits and remediation.
• Own accounting workstreams for new payment providers and marketplace setups.
