Job summary

Whatnot is hiring a Revenue Accounting Associate to support monthly close, revenue analytics, and cross-functional reporting. You will review contracts, collaborate with teams, and assist external audits while developing SOPs and ad-hoc analyses.

The role requires 2–3+ years of accounting experience, US GAAP expertise, and strong Excel/data skills. Remote-friendly with hub offices and US relocation options.

Role

The Whatnot Finance team consists of FP&A, Tax, Payroll and Accounting. The Accounting team is responsible for financial reporting, year-end audits, and accounting operations.

• Month-End Close: Responsible for monthly revenue close, which includes detailed analytics, review of transaction process of domestic and global revenue streams. Assist the monthly financial close by recording journal entries, maintaining accurate supporting documentation, and preparing and reviewing account reconciliations
• Ensure efficient day-to-day operations: Contract review of customer and marketing agreements, working closely with cross functional teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Ad Hoc Projects and requests: Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, building SOPs, tackle one off and ad-hoc projects as necessary (ie: process improvements, building SOPs, building reconciliations for new entities, ad hoc reporting, marketing contract review)
• Cross-functional partnership: Manage assigned projects and collaborate with cross-functional team members in delivering impactful, high quality information to our business partners

As our next Revenue Accounting Associate you should have 2-3+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably a combination of private and public accounting, plus:

• BA/BS in Accounting; CPA is desired
• Detailed understanding of month-end close processes and thorough US GAAP expertise
• Experience in e-commerce/tech industries preferred
• Advanced Excel and data transformation skills
• Curiosity and willingness to adopt AI tools to improve efficiency and quality of work
• Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment while running tight deadlines
• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, takes initiative to simplify and improve processes
• Prior experience with NetSuite, FloQast, ZIP, Snowflake, and Sigma is a bonus
