Job summary

Whatnot, a leading live-commerce platform, is hiring a Senior Accountant to own month-end close and multi-entity reporting. You will ensure accurate journal entries, intercompany transactions, and multi-currency balances while driving process improvements across the US and international entities.

The role requires US GAAP expertise, strong Excel and data transformation skills, and experience in e-commerce/tech. This is a remote-friendly, hybrid position with hubs in SF, NY, and LA.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting; CPA is desired.
• Thorough US GAAP expertise and month-end close knowledge.
• Experience in e-commerce/tech industries preferred.
• Advanced Excel and data transformation skills.

Responsibilities

• Month-end close tasks across multiple entities with intercompany and multi-currency balances.
• Manage entity-level reporting in Netsuite and day-to-day finance tasks; drive process improvements.
• Support external audits; own ad-hoc projects and SOPs.

Role

• Month-end close: Responsible for assigned monthly GL close tasks, which includes maintaining accurate supporting documentation, posting various journal entries, preparing reconciliations, analytics, and variance explanations. Support close activities across multiple international entities, including intercompany transactions and multi-currency balances
• Ensure efficient day-to-day operations: Assist in the creation and management of entity level reporting in Netsuite and day to day finance operational tasks in assigned areas including ongoing process improvement.
• Ad Hoc Projects and requests: Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, own ad-hoc projects as necessary (ie: process improvements, building SOPs, drafting memos, software implementation, building account reconciliations for new entities)
• Cross-functional partnership: Manage assigned projects and collaborate with cross-functional team members within and outside of Finance in delivering impactful, high quality information to our business partners

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our San Francisco, New York City, or Los Angeles hubs.

• BA/BS in Accounting; CPA is desired
• Detailed understanding of month-end close processes and thorough US GAAP expertise
• Experience in e-commerce/tech industries preferred
• Advanced Excel and data transformation skills
• Curiosity and willingness to adopt AI tools to improve efficiency and quality of work
• Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment while running tight deadlines
• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, takes initiative to simplify and improve processes
• Prior experience with NetSuite, FloQast, ZIP, Gappify, and Workday is a bonus
