Job summary

Kennedy Krieger Institute, Inc. is seeking a Retirement Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert on retirement systems and support compliance for the Institute’s retirement plans.

The role partners with retirement brokers and external vendors to manage 401(k) audits, eligibility, enrollment, and reporting. The position collaborates with HR leadership to educate employees, deliver communications, and ensure accurate plan administration across 401(k), 457, and pension plans, including Form

Qualifications

• Experience in retirement plan administration in high-volume environments.
• Healthcare industry experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain CPSP within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Administer the 401(k) and frozen pension plans in line with plan documents and ERISA.
• Ensure accurate eligibility, enrollment, and contribution processing with Payroll and ERP rules.
• Develop retirement reporting and audit processes to monitor IRS thresholds and identify discrepancies.
• Support governance by coordinating meetings and providing analysis and recommendations.
• Design and deliver employee communications and educational initiatives for retirement benefits.
• Lead Form 5500 process and related filings, disclosures, and notices.
• Coordinate plan forfeitures according to plan provisions and regulatory standards.
• Oversee annual valuations, distributions, and education for the frozen pension plan.
• Administer the Student Debt Program including data feeds, validation, and vendor payments.
