We are seeking an experienced Pension Consultant / QKA to strengthen our retirement plan and ERISA service platform as we continue to scale.
Role Overview
The Pension Consultant / QKA will be responsible for providing high-quality retirement plan administration support and ERISA coordination for corporate retirement plan clients. This role is critical in ensuring accurate plan operations, compliance, contribution reconciliation, and strong client service.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in qualified plan administration and thrives in a detail-oriented, client-facing, fiduciary environment.
- Support administration of qualified retirement plans (401(k), profit sharing, cash balance where applicable)
- Coordinate plan compliance processes including nondiscrimination testing and annual reporting
- Assist plan sponsors with operational questions and ERISA best practices
- Oversee payroll contribution tracking and deferral reconciliation
- Coordinate with recordkeepers and payroll providers to resolve discrepancies
- Ensure timely and accurate deposit monitoring
Compliance & Reporting
- Support preparation and review of Form 5500 filings and related schedules
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for plan operations
- Ensure adherence to DOL and IRS requirements for qualified plans
- Serve as primary retirement plan operations contact for plan sponsors
- Support advisors in integrating retirement plans into broader financial planning
- Participate in client meetings as the ERISA subject matter expert
- Liaise with third-party administrators, custodians, and recordkeepers
- Support plan conversions, onboarding, and provider transitions
- Monitor service standards and issue resolution
QualificationsRequired
- QKA designation (Qualified 401(k) Administrator) or strong path toward completion
- Good Understanding of Defined Benefit Plan
- 3–7+ years of experience in retirement plan administration or ERISA consulting
- Strong knowledge of qualified plan compliance and operations
- Experience with contribution reconciliation and payroll coordination
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong process discipline
Preferred
- Experience with Form 5500 preparation and plan testing
- Familiarity with recordkeeping platforms (Empower, Fidelity, Vanguard, Principal, etc.)
- Background working with RIAs, retirement consulting firms, or TPAs
- QKA or other advanced credentials a plus
- Experience with working with Financial Advisor to reconcile data from pooled account
- Experience with platform such as NFS, Schwab to pull 401k data
Compensation
- Total Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000
Compensation will depend on experience, credentials, and leadership potential.
