Job summary

CPS, Inc. is seeking a Retirement Plan Compliance Specialist to serve as the ERISA subject matter expert for plan sponsors and the internal team. This role sits on a small, high-impact team using a proprietary retirement platform and has direct influence on design, compliance, and product decisions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of ERISA operations experience, strong communication skills, and ASPPA credentials preferred. NYC-based or open to quarterly travel with a remote option is available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of ERISA operational experience (TPA, recordkeeper, or consulting).
• Strong technical depth; confident discussing corrections, coverage testing, amendment timing.
• Customer facing, articulate, and able to simplify complex concepts.
• Forward thinking, detail oriented, and energized by modern technology.
• ASPPA credentials (QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPA) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise plan sponsors on design: eligibility, vesting, safe harbor, match formulas, profit sharing, cross tested designs.
• Lead onboarding and translate sponsor intent into clean, accurate plan elections.
• Oversee year end compliance: ADP/ACP, 410(b), 415, top heavy, coverage testing, 5500s, 1099 Rs.
• Manage corrections and guide sponsors through complex issues.
• Turn regulatory changes into clear, actionable decisions.
• Partner with Operations and serve as a subject matter expert to the engineering team refining the platform.
• Communicate clearly with sponsors, auditors, and internal teams.

A fast growing, tech forward retirement organization is hiring a Retirement Plan Compliance Specialist to serve as a trusted subject matter expert and guide to plan sponsors, and internal ERISA expert.

This is a high impact role on a small, modern team that has already scaled to 100+ plans and over $550M in assets in its first year. You’ll shape how plan consulting works in a next generation environment built entirely on proprietary technology.
