Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to support the Retirement team. The role involves preparing retirement packets, maintaining Medical and Beneficiary records, and assisting with data entry in retirement databases.

You will liaise with retirees to obtain needed information and ensure timely, confidential processing of benefits. The position also provides guidance to department managers on HR policies, administers benefits and leave for retirement, and handles

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Public Administration, or related field required; supplemented by three years of progressively responsible experience in benefits, HR system administration, recruitment, test development and administration, human resources or related field.
• Experience in a public sector HR environment is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and front-line customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare retirement packets and related correspondence for upcoming retirees.
• Maintain and update Medical and Beneficiary records in the Advantage system.
• Assist with data entry in external retirement database and contact retirees to obtain missing information.
• Explain and apply County HR policies and procedures to department managers and employees.
• Administer and process retirement benefits and leave, verify forms, and update HR systems.
• Process terminations for retirees, conduct exit interviews, and calculate leave payouts.
• Provide customer service in person, by phone, or email.
• Provide training to department representatives and participate in new hire orientation.
