Job description

Overview

Store Operations Coach
£13.30per hour, rising to £13.84 per hour

We take real pride in our shop floor – it’s where our products are styled, displayed and brought to life for our customers. From creating beautiful, eye-catching displays to running feel-good campaigns and making sure our shelves are full of things people actually want to buy, it all happens here.

You’ll be a visual merchandiser and leader - you’ll be the one who brings it all to life. You’ll lead a passionate team, keep standards sky-high, and help create the kind of shopping experience customers enjoy and colleagues feel proud of. It’s a fast-paced, hands-on role that takes real energy and focus. But when everything comes together and you see those sales climbing – it’s seriously rewarding.

We’re looking for someone who’s got an eye for detail, a love of good design, and the drive to keep things moving. If you know how to make a space feel welcoming, know what sells, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves – we’d love to hear from you.

  • Promote a culture of upselling, coaching the team on how to guide customers to what they might love, boosting impulse buys and basket sizes
  • Keep energy levels high by building team spirit, celebrating wins (big and small), and being the positive energy that everyone needs
  • Have a clear plan for each day, so everyone knows what they’re doing and why it matters
  • Check in with your team in wellbeing 121’s, progress and career conversations and support our store succession plan
  • Support the Leadership Team in bringing the Engagement Action Plan to life
  • Take ownership – be clear on the “why” behind what we’re doing and bring your team with you every step of the way
  • Get out on the shopfloor every day with your Store Coach - spot wins, fix snags, and make sure the day runs smoothly
  • Grow your team by coaching and mentoring – always be on the lookout for tomorrow’s leaders

The Store Operations Coach is responsible for creating a enjoyable shopping experience by ensuring high store standards, excellent product availability, and strong recovery processes.

They lead the team to execute ME’s and campaigns right the first time, maximising sales and maintaining an engaging shop floor.

With a focus on friendly service and seamless shopping, they bring value and joy to both colleagues and customers. Acting like an owner, inspiring and supporting their team to maximise sales, drive strong delivery and recovery processes.

What you'll be doing

  • Create a friendly and welcoming shopping experience by maintaining high shop floor standards
  • Lead the team to campaigns flawlessly, ensuring the store is visually appealing and easy for customers to navigate.
  • Keep the team updated on new products, supporting customer conversations and driving sales. Also, help promote the store through our local Facebook channel.
  • Coach your team on link selling and actively encourage an increase in average basket size (ABS) by boosting impulse sales and guiding customers to discover just what they need.
  • Celebrate great performance regularly to keep spirits high and motivate the team to take pride in their work.
  • Maximise team productivity and consistency by coaching the team to follow our One-Way delivery/Recovery Model principles.
  • Ensure the daily delivery is completed smoothly with every team member having a clear purpose throughout their shift.
  • Use the Recovery Planner to organise the Recovery shift, ensuring the store is tidy, well-stocked, and ready for the next trading day.
  • Hold wellbeing one-on-ones, progress check-ins, and career conversations with your direct reports to support our store’s succession plan.
  • Drive on-shelf availability and maintain strong recovery standards to maximise sales and keep the store looking its best.
  • Maximise impulse sales, total sales, and average basket size (ABS) by using commercial trading techniques and data from Power BI sales reports.
  • Ensure the Walkway and Seasonal areas follow all relevant POS, H&S, and TACS (Tickets, Availability, Commerciality, Sample) guidelines.
  • Set up ME displays with full guidance, using the POS guide and other supporting documents. Check the known issues log in advance to identify challenges and plan solutions.
  • Build a strong, capable delivery and recovery team by coaching and mentoring future leaders.
  • Stay on top of all Intouch tasks and plan ahead for upcoming ones.
  • Ensure price changes are implemented accurately and on time.
  • Coach the team to follow security tagging guidelines, ensuring all relevant products are tagged to minimise stock loss and keep inventory safe.

What we'll look for in you

  • You’ve got some solid management experience under your belt, ideally in a customer-facing role like retail or hospitality, where rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in was all part of the job.
  • You know how to boost business performance and smash KPIs, all while keeping the store looking its best.
  • You’re passionate about creating brilliant shopping experiences that customers remember (for all the right reasons).
  • You’re a true team player, someone who knows how to communicate clearly, build strong connections, and lead a happy, high-performing team.
