Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort is seeking a Sport Shop Supervisor to lead the Dodge Ridge Sport Shop team in Pinecrest, CA. You will supervise staff, ensure guest satisfaction, manage cash handling, training, and inventory, and maintain secure operations within budget.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel preferred.
  • Must be 19 or older and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, motivate, evaluate and supervise staff to meet department goals and standards.
  • Assist Retail Manager to ensure department aligns with standards and objectives.
  • Train staff on POS operation, cash handling, product knowledge and guest service.
  • Maintain accurate banks, drawers, and reporting; coach staff on cash procedures.
  • Oversee opening/closing duties and daily sport shop operations.
  • Merchandise rounds, display windows, and general security of the shop.

Salary Range: $19.25 To $22.00 Hourly

Summary of Job Purpose

The Sport Shop Supervisor directly supervises the operations of the Dodge Ridge Sport Shop. The position is responsible for ensuring a high-quality experience for our guests which is well-organized, efficient, and staffed with a well-trained and guest-friendly team. This position must maintain secure cash handling practices, and staff training guidelines and adhere to the department budget. This position is responsible for the administrative aspects of the Sport Shop. This position is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • As directed, assist with the hiring, motivation, evaluation and supervision of staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established departmental goals and objectives. Ensures that all employees receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary to achieve departmental success.
  • Assist the Retail Manager in ensuring the department operates in line with departmental standards, guidelines, objectives.
  • Effective and appropriate communication skills in alignment with company culture with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal labor standards and regulations and the ability to manage departmental compliance.
  • Understanding of and compliance with corporate and resort-specific policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for promoting a positive attitude within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains administrative processes as directed such as staffing, payroll, and inventories to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of the department, and successful achievement of resort goals in compliance with resort safety policies.
  • Responsible for receiving and entering all inventory accurately and timely.
  • Train Retail sales associates on POS operation, rules, products, sales techniques/procedures, guest service techniques, cash handling, function, and benefits of all products carried in the Sport Shop and all the services offered in the Repair Shop.
  • Understand and follow all procedures for accurate banks, balancing drawers, turn-ins, and all systems established for cash drawer accountability. Train, coach, and supervise all staff in these procedures. Accurately record sales, identifying overs/shorts, and correctly reporting
  • Understand correct cash handling policies, procedures, and security as well as return of accurate change.
  • Supervise staff to develop a highly organized guest experience and positively assist staff and guests with Sport Shop products and Repair Shop services.
  • Hold weekly staff training and safety meetings.
  • Monthly re-merchandising of Sport Shop floor and display windows.
  • Assist with general security of the Sport Shop.
  • Monitor and perform opening and closing duties of the Sport Shop.
  • Stay current with trends of both Dodge Ridge as well as the Ski/Snowboard Industry.
Job Qualifications
  • Must have two to three years prior supervising experience in a retail environment.
  • Must be able to complete clerical and administrative duties related to the retail department.
  • Must have cash handling, POS, inventory maintenance, and loss prevention experience.
  • Demonstrated facility in dealing with co-workers in a positive, cooperative, and team-oriented manner; ability and willingness to interact with customers in the same manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills, possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, task-oriented environment and maximize use of time.
  • Microsoft Office and Excel knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Heavy and awkward lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Must be 19 or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
