Job summary

Dodge Ridge Ski Resort in Pinecrest, CA is seeking a Sales Associate for The Sports Shop. You will help guests with efficient service, process transactions, maintain inventory, and keep the shop organized.

You will learn product specs, assist in merchandising, and support end-of-day close procedures. Winter season work includes varying hours and a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, professional and prompt guest service. For example: bright smiles when a guest enters and polite “thank yous” as they leave, problem solving and suggesting similar, complementary, or related items that might be of interest to them.
• Sales orientated. Ability to achieve sales through great customer service.
• Resolve customer problems efficiently and tactfully, directing them to the appropriate person if necessary.
• Accurately complete all types of sales transactions on Point of Sale, and be responsible for correctly balanced ‘turn‑ins’.
• Assist with inventory controls as requested.
• Assist with store merchandising.
• Responsible for end of day closing procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized shop.
• Responsible for learning and staying informed about products’ specifications and attend all sale clinics
• Able to learn and assist in repair shop if needed.
• Maintain a helpful and friendly attitude at all times.
• Stock organized in the back room.
• Arrange the merchandise on the store floor. This means placing the products in an organized fashion on shelves, racks, counters, and sales displays.
• Identifying customer needs and directing them to an appropriate product.
• Assisting other departments as needed.
• Shoveling snow after a storm, or maintaining the entrances of facilities.

Summary of Job Purpose

The Sports Shop is a fast-paced environment focused on selling hard goods, soft goods and accessories. The Sports Shop Sales Associate is in charge of maintaining the quality of the store’s presentation by monitoring and maintaining the inventory, organization and cleanliness of the store. They will be trained to know products inside and out, i.e. specifications, price, function, and how it compares to similar, competing products. This position must complete accurate transactions, perform end of day closing procedures, present exceptional guest service and understand how individual products can assist and improve guest experience at Dodge Ridge . It is very important for this position to have excellent communication skills, establish rapport through successful sales. This is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
