The Retail Team Lead supports retail store management in maintaining a high standard of customer service, well-trained employees, and sales and production through assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Goodwill Store. Full-Time & Part-Time positions available.

The Retail Team Lead supports retail store management in maintaining a high standard of customer service, well-trained employees, and sales and production through assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Goodwill Store. Full-Time & Part-Time positions available.

This position pays $19/hr.

Essential Functions

• Review and approve payroll.
• Communicate attendance to store management team.
• Cash handling and reconciliation.
• Coaches retail team members.
• Receive and process donations.
• Operate and supervise the operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, trash compactors.
• Operate and supervise the operation of a point-of-sale system.
• Reliable transportation for bank deposits, emergency call ins & coverage for the Petoskey location.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.
• Perform work in a safe manner by observing all Goodwill safety policies and procedures.
• Interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner.
• Respect the diversity of others, including but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.
• Support management in the efficient operation of retail operations.
• Ensure a high level of customer service for customers and donors.
• Support the development and supervision of a well-trained, versatile staff which includes retail sales associates and donation attendants.
• Oversee volunteers.
• Ensure that donations are sorted and tagged according to guidelines and merchandised appropriately and efficiently.
• Coach staff in a consistent and positive manner.
• Assist in achieving sales and productions goals.
• Maintain appropriate use of available space and merchandise.
• Maintain and improve retail operations conducive for a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
• Ensure that all security and safety measures are followed at all times.
• Attend required trainings and management meetings.
• Communicate and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
• Open and close the store, including adhering to opening and closing procedures, balancing daily revenues, and maintaining all administrative duties.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience

• High School graduate or GED.
• Previous retail management experience preferred.
• Current valid driver’s license without restrictions.
• Operation of forklift, pallet jack, trash compactor required, or ability to learn.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Excellent reading, writing, and math skills to accurately complete all transactions and documentation.
• Above average verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all departments in the store, administration, customers, staff, and people with disabilities.
• Proven ability to supervise people.
• Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement operational needs.
• Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks throughout the workday.
• Must have an eye for detail and the ability to make quick and sound decisions.
• Ability to work independently, with little to no supervision.
• Ability to freely access all areas of the store including sales floor, stock area, and register area.
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run store.
• Must be able to work varied hours and days as business dictates.

Physical Requirements

• Stands and walks for most of the workday.
• Routinely bends, stoops, pushes, pulls, reaches, kneels, twists, turns throughout the day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. May be required to exert 150 – 300 pounds of force.
• Works in an environment with occasional high stress, and short deadlines, sometimes requiring overtime.
