Qualifications

ABOUT OUR RETAIL TEAM

Join our dedicated Retail Team at The Salvation Army! Help us serve and impact our community through our Do The Most Good mission at the Tempe Thrift Store, supporting the Adult Rehabilitation Program. This role offers opportunities to improve customer service, problem-solving, teamwork, and contribute to our Program's success.

STORE MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily store operations
  • Develop strategies to improve customer service, sales, and profitability
  • Maintain good relations with customers, donors, and the community; resolve complaints efficiently
  • Schedule staff and coordinate team meetings
  • Supervise employee performance, conduct interviews, and facilitate training
  • Manage employee discipline, evaluations, and goal setting
  • Maintain inventory and ensure timely Rag Out from sales floor
  • Oversee Back Room Processing (BRP) to meet processing goals
  • Manage cash, banking, and ensure cash register accuracy
  • Handle paperwork related to Time and Attendance
  • Participate in district and store meetings
  • Implement safety and loss prevention measures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years retail management/supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in POS/cash register operations
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Ability to pass background checks
  • Effective communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and move objects up to 50lbs
  • Repetitive motion tasks
SCHEDULE

Stores operate 7 days/week. Schedules are flexible to ensure coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays for full-time staff.
