Job summary

Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay is seeking a Retail Store Manager in Training (MIT) in San Rafael, CA. The MIT will complete a comprehensive training program, rotating through key roles to learn policies, procedures, and management techniques.

After training, the candidate leads a store, directing the team, donations, and daily operations to support the Goodwill mission. The role emphasizes people leadership, financial oversight, inventory control, customer service, and strong collaboration

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ work experience in retail management, preferably thrift.
• One year of customer service experience.
• Understanding of financial metrics, reporting, and budget management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes retail operations plan to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for operating income, revenue, and production.
• Coordinates with Retail District Manager to develop and implement strategic plans to help drive donations.
• Monitors product levels daily to achieve bottom line sales budget against targets.
• Ensures payroll costs and operating costs are managed to budget.
• Ensures Team Members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
• Ensures store locations are clean, well-kept, and reflect the Goodwill brand appropriately.
• Partners with community businesses and organizations to promote Goodwill mission.
• Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
• Transfers to different stores as needed due to business needs.
• Builds a high-performing team and responsible for performance management and development.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Two years retail management experience

Customer service experience

Understanding of financial metrics and budget management

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
