Are you looking to grow your career in retail management while making a difference in your community? Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas is seeking a motivated Store Manager-In-Training to develop the skills necessary to successfully manage one of our retail stores. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn how to operate a store, lead a team, and ensure efficient operations that maximize profitability while promoting Goodwill's mission of providing job training and employment opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver world-class customer service and model professional conduct aligned with Goodwill's values.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate team members following Goodwill's policies and procedures.
  • Learn to supervise staff, ensuring they can perform all duties related to their roles, preparing for potential future retail management positions.
  • Assist in managing store operations within budgeted expense and revenue ratios.
  • Ensure proper processing, handling, and stewardship of donations to maximize donor value.
  • Train in scheduling, labor management, payroll, and loss prevention practices.
  • Oversee store image, safety, and security following Goodwill's guidelines.
  • Gain hands-on experience with:
    • Cash handling and financial reporting
    • Monthly safety inspections and incident reports
    • Purchasing, supply management, and budget adherence
    • Team meetings and retail reporting
  • Maintain compliance with CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) standards.
  • Stay informed on retail trends, pricing, and competitor strategies.
  • Participate in assigned training and, if required, support activities outside of Goodwill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Retail Leadership.
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in production operations.
  • Skills in inventory management, production planning, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Proven supervisory experience with strong leadership skills.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills, especially in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • A valid driver's license IS required.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl throughout the workday.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.
