Position: Store Manager

Buff City Soap is on a mission to create handmade products that are free of harsh ingredients and full of nourishing plant-based goodies to make your skin happy. We are currently accepting applications for a Store Manager, who contributes to Buff City Soap’s success by leading a team to create and maintain the Buff City Experience for our clients.

The Store Manager is required to regularly exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the makery. A majority of time is spent supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing and scheduling), ensuring client satisfaction and quality of client experience, monitoring and motivating staff to achieve performance goals, handling minor maintenance issues, ensuring the cleanliness of your makery, and managing safety and security within the makery.

The Store Manager is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Buff City Soap principles in order to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  1. Developing and coaching employees to provide amazing client experiences.
  2. Following up swiftly on client concerns and issues.
  3. Consistently sets a positive example and demonstrates a calm demeanor during periods of high volume.
  4. Displays a client comes first attitude by holding team members accountable for quality client service.
  5. Drives company metrics by developing action plans and motivating the makery team.
  6. Manages with integrity and honesty and promotes the culture, values, and mission of Buff City Soap.
  7. Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations.
  8. Maintains outstanding store conditions and visual merchandising compliance with the Buff City Soap brand standards.
  9. Directly responsible for the production, cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and organization of the makery.
  10. Manages makery staffing levels to ensure employee development and maintain operational requirements.
  11. Adherence to applicable wage and hour laws for non-exempt team members and minors.
  12. Utilizes financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in makery performance.
  13. Regularly conducts performance assessments, providing feedback and setting challenging goals to improve sales performance.
  14. Manage ongoing sales.

The Store Manager is required to work a 5-day workweek of 40 hours per week (minimum) and a varying number of mid and/or closing shifts each week as determined by supervisors based on business trends and staffing needs. Candidate should expect to work five days per week, approximately a 40-to-45-hour work schedule depending on hourly or salary status. Reliable ability and transportation to go to the bank as needed.

Experience:

  1. College education preferred, but not required.
  2. Management and/or Sales experience required.
  3. Basic Computer skills (ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  4. Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple situations simultaneously.
  5. Strong knowledge of client service techniques and operational practices.
  6. Strong problem solving and organizational/planning skills.
  7. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor while having knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
  8. Team building skills
  9. Ability to prioritize and delegate.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  2. Must not be sensitive to various scents and fragrances.
  3. Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  4. Ability to lift or assist in lifting items and heavy boxes up to 50lbs.
  5. Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, twist and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  6. Ability to perform makery cleaning functions including dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, etc.
