Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university plus 2–4 years retail management experience.
• Experience in high-volume guest service retail environments.
• Proven leadership and ability to motivate a diverse staff.
• Strong cash management, inventory, and merchandising experience.
• Experience with retail data and metrics analysis.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manage store operations in line with Smithsonian culture and visual standards.
• Drive sales through customer service, store ops, merchandising, and inventory.
• Plan and allocate payroll, staff, and merchandise to maximize sales.
• Recruit, train, and coach a knowledgeable store sales team.
• Model and coach staff to deliver exemplary service and uphold standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, loss prevention, inventory control and cash handling.
