Retail Store Manager - Dawley
Buff City Soap is on a mission to create handmade products that are free of harsh ingredients and full of nourishing plant-based goodies to make your skin happy. Buff City Soap products are fresh, made daily in each soap makery with ingredients you can pronounce. We are currently accepting applications for a Store Manager. The Store Manager contributes to Buff City Soap’s success by leading a team to create and maintain the Buff City Experience for our clients. The Store Manager is responsible for managing the overall operation of the makery, including supervising staff, making staffing decisions (hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, scheduling), ensuring client satisfaction, monitoring staff performance, handling minor maintenance issues, maintaining cleanliness, and managing safety and security. The Store Manager is expected to model and act in accordance with Buff City Soap principles to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Develop and coach employees to provide excellent client experiences.
- Address client concerns promptly and effectively.
- Maintain a positive example and calm demeanor during busy periods.
- Prioritize client service by holding team members accountable.
- Drive company metrics through action plans and team motivation.
- Promote the culture, values, and mission of Buff City Soap with integrity and honesty.
- Delegate responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage stock of raw materials, finished products, and supplies.
- Maintain store conditions and visual merchandising standards.
- Oversee production, cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and organization of the makery.
- Manage staffing levels to support employee development and operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws for non-exempt staff and minors.
- Utilize operational tools for planning and achieving excellence, including labor, reports, cash, and inventory management.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends and address performance issues.
- Conduct performance assessments, provide feedback, and set sales goals.
- Manage ongoing sales activities.
- Work a minimum of 5 days per week, approximately 40-45 hours, including mid and/or closing shifts as needed.
- Have reliable transportation for banking and other errands.
Experience:
- College education preferred but not required.
- Management and/or sales experience required.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong client service, operational, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and supervise.
- Team-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must not be sensitive to scents and fragrances.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting items up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform various physical movements including reaching, climbing, balancing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Ability to perform cleaning functions such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.
