Job summary

Family Dollar Stores Of Ohio LLC in Utica, NY is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and help implement corporate directives to ensure smooth store performance.

The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a commitment to a safe, friendly shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and maintain compliance with store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for store-fronts.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash handling).
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Create a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanliness, restrooms, floors, and trash are maintained.
• Other duties as assigned.
