Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store. You’ll supervise staff, manage merchandise, handle deposits, and support profitability and loss prevention while protecting assets.

Typical duties include cashiering, stocking, scheduling, and inventory control. Qualified candidates bring strong communication, organizational skills, and prior retail supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and cash handling tasks.
• Knowledge of cash handling policies and deposit procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow procedures to manage merchandise, receive, stock, restock and build displays.
• Help maintain accurate inventory and control damages and markdowns.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Ensure cash control, refunds and overrides are properly handled.
• Assist in store management during Store Manager absence.
