Job summary

Wilbur's of Maine Chocolate Confections in Freeport, ME seeks a Retail Store Assistant Manager to lead customer service and store operations when the Retail Store Manager is unavailable. This role acts as the on-duty leader to ensure smooth operations, staff understanding, and excellent service while representing the brand.

The position regularly covers full-time shifts, including openings, closings, weekends, and holiday periods. Overtime requires prior written approval from the Store Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 9th-grade reading level.
• Several years of retail experience with strong customer service and business knowledge.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, and provide effective feedback.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring and training staff in coordination with the Store Manager.
• Assist with coaching retail staff regarding expectations of excellence and how to achieve these goals.
• Ensure that all products are undamaged along all stages of receipt continuing into the retail area through the point of sale.
• Perform retail duties of retail assistants and keyholders: lead by example, prepare and ring up purchases, greet customers, open and close the store.
• Ensure that the store is kept clean and organized; communicate repairs to the Store Manager.
• Support Store Manager to create business strategies to attract new customers, expand store traffic, and enhance profitability.
