• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Availability on weekday evenings; some weekend availability a plus

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and operate the register accurately for fuel, store, and food purchases
• Keep shelves, coolers, and displays stocked, faced, and clean
• Maintain a clean store, restrooms, and fuel island
• Handle cash, card, and fuel transactions and balance the drawer at the end of the shift
• Complete evening close-out duties and shift reports
• Support The Bird’s Nest Kitchen team during busy periods as needed
• Follow all safety, age-verification, and cash-handling procedures
• Report low stock, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the store manager

About Us

Founded in 1942, Rockingham Petroleum Cooperative is a farmer-owned energy cooperative serving homes, farms, and businesses across the Shenandoah Valley. Along with dependable fuel delivery, propane, and heating oil, we operate three convenience stores — including our Broadway location on Timber Way, home of The Bird’s Nest Kitchen.

Our Broadway store is a daily stop for neighbors heading to work, farmers filling up, and families grabbing dinner on the way home. We are looking for a dependable, friendly Retail Store Cashier to help us take care of those customers and close out the day right.

Position Summary

The Retail Store Cashier handles register transactions, keeps the store stocked and clean, and makes sure every customer leaves feeling well taken care of. This is a part-time role working mostly evening shifts — a good fit for someone who is reliable, works well without a lot of supervision, and enjoys talking with people.
