The Bird’s Nest Kitchen is where neighbors grab breakfast before work, farmers fuel up for the day, and families enjoy fresh, homemade meals. We serve fried chicken, country-style sides, breakfast items, grab-and-go meals, fresh coffee, and baked goods in a friendly, fast-paced environment.

We are looking for a dependable, team-oriented Food Service Kitchen Assistant who takes pride in preparing quality food and serving our community with a smile.

Position Summary

The Food Service Kitchen Assistant supports daily kitchen operations by preparing food, maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards, assisting with customer service, and ensuring efficient service during busy periods. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with a team and takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality food in a welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of breakfast, lunch, and grab-and-go food items
• Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and food safety standards
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, prep area, and food storage areas
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
• Restock food and supplies as needed
• Assist customers with food selections in a friendly and helpful manner
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Work collaboratively with team members during high-volume service times
• Support catering and special orders when needed

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Flexible availability, including early mornings and weekends
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
