Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking a Retail Shift Supervisor to join our Lees Summit Store - Ward team. The role is hourly full-time with an hourly rate of $19.50 and potential bonuses.

You will supervise staff, deliver excellent customer service, and uphold our mission of Changing Lives Through the Power of Work. Ideal candidates bring 1 year of retail leadership or related Goodwill experience, strong communication, and leadership skills to coach teams, manage scheduling, and maintain store

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year retail management or related Goodwill experience required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train staff to perform duties.
• Provide superior customer service to donors, shoppers, and staff.
• Coach employees and enforce performance, including discipline.
• Assign daily tasks and manage payroll.
• Identify staff for advancement.
• Protect company property and data from harm or theft.
• Follow agency policies and dress code.
• Maintain staffing and schedule coverage.

Qualifications

• No degree is required. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or previous Goodwill Retail or Warehouse experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills like decision-making, motivation, goal-setting, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
