MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is seeking a Retail Shift Supervisor for the Cape Girardeau Store - Silver Springs. The role focuses on supervising staff, delivering exceptional donor and shopper service, and maintaining store operations with strong leadership and discipline.

The ideal candidate will have retail management experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and comfort with scheduling and inventory software.

Qualifications

• 1 year of retail management experience or equivalent is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service and teamwork.
• Leadership skills such as decision-making and motivation, with problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable with registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train staff to perform essential functions.
• Provide superior customer service to attract and retain donors and shoppers.
• Coach employees on performance, including discipline up to termination.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operational tasks and payroll accuracy.
• Identify employees with potential for advancement and safeguard company assets.
• Enforce policies and maintain appropriate staffing; manage payroll approvals.
• Drive process improvements to reduce waste and uphold dress code.

Hourly Rate: $19.50

Bonus Potential: Up to $500/month

Qualifications

• No degree is required. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or previous Goodwill Retail or Warehouse experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills like decision-making, motivation, goal-setting, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill's dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
