Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking a Retail Shift Supervisor to join our Chesterfield Store - Valleyteam. The ideal candidate will supervise staff, ensure top customer service, and support store operations in a fast-paced retail setting. No degree required; HS diploma/GED preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills including decision-making, motivation, goal-setting, and problem-solving.
• Comfortable with registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential functions.
• Provide superior customer service to ensure repeat donors and shoppers and handle dissatisfaction effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees on performance, including discipline up to termination.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operational tasks and identify employees for advancement.
• Safeguard company property and report any theft or policy violations.
• Read, follow, and enforce agency policies and values.
• Arrange for replacements and manage payroll in staffing processes; monitor scheduling.

Qualifications

• No degree is required. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or previous Goodwill Retail or Warehouse experience is required.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus up to $500.00
