Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking an in-store Retail Sales Associate to warmly assist customers, stock and stage merchandise, and ring up purchases with accuracy. The role emphasizes exceptional service, cash handling, and maintaining organized, clean sales floors.

Candidates should communicate clearly, stay on task, and handle multiple duties, including basic math and lifting up to 40 pounds. A positive, customer-first attitude is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
• Ability to settle customer complaints.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and internet.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register.
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill including making change and operating cash register.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance.
• Perform general housekeeping duties and store upkeep as needed.
