Job summary

Agri Supply Co in Garner, NC is seeking a part-time Retail Sales Associate for the Agricultural department. You will greet customers, determine their needs, cut hoses, locate items, and assist with displays while providing friendly service at all times.

Weekends are required with strong communication and basic math skills; prior retail or agricultural knowledge is a plus. Forklift knowledge is helpful and training may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers on the sales floor and determine merchandise needs.
• Cut hoses and assist with stocking per department protocols.
• Direct customers to merchandise and provide product information.
• Research items in the catalog and secure items from purchasing for customers.
• Assist with loading purchases and transporting to vehicle or register.
• Display merchandise and suggest items meeting customers' needs.
• Prepare sales tickets and handle special orders; wrap or bag items as needed.
• Maintain organized, labeled shelves and inventory, restocking as needed.

Retail Sales Associate (PT, Ag. Department)

Agri Supply is seeking a P/T Sales Associate to work in the Ag department.

Job Duties:

• Greets customers on the sales floor and determines the make, type, and quality of merchandise desired.
• Cuts sprayer, suction, and discharge hoses that are sold per square foot.
• Offers directions to other locations in the store and provides assistance with merchandise.
• Researches items and product information in the sales catalog for customers and calls the purchasing department to secure items for customers.
• Loads/transports customers’ verified purchases by hand or with a forklift either to the register and/or to customers’ vehicle.
• Displays merchandise, suggests selections that meet customers’ needs, and emphasizes selling points of articles such as quality and utility.
• Prepares sales tickets, writes up special orders for customers, and follows through on special orders.
• Wraps or bags merchandise for customers, if needed.
• Takes inventory out of stock and maintains adequate inventory levels in their department. Requisitions merchandise from overstock, warehouse, etc.
• May train and assist new employees in the department.
• Passes along information for new stock items to the managers. Informs managers of any quality control problems with stock.
• Performs price changes on items in the department.
• Maintains work area and shelves that are neat, clean, organized, and attractive to all customers, ensuring all items are properly labeled.
• As needed, assists the Shipping/Receiving Department by staging Bulk items with a forklift.
• Works directly with other clerical personnel, store personnel, and management personnel to accomplish job duties.
• Any and all other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications for the position:

• Must have weekend availability.
• Some High School/ HS Diploma/ GED or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong communication skills that can make customers feel welcome in our store.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints.
• Knowledge of agricultural equipment, parts and supplies either by educational program or practical use preferred.

Physical Expectations:

During the job, employees are regularly required to stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods, use their hands to handle or control objects, and perform tasks that involve reaching, climbing, kneeling, or crouching. The role involves frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, with occasional requirements to handle more with assistance or equipment. Employees must also be able to push and pull using various equipment. Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, are necessary. Verbal communication and the ability to hear are also required for safety and coordination.
