Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Racine is seeking a friendly Retail Sales Associate to join our team. This part-time role (up to 28 hours weekly) focuses on delivering excellent customer service, assisting donors and shoppers, and helping run daily store operations during evening and weekend shifts.

You will gain experience with our POS system, restocking, and merchandise presentation while supporting The Salvation Army's mission to serve the community. Training is provided.

About the Role

Join our team in "Doing the Most Good" as a Retail Sales Associate. We're seeking friendly and enthusiastic individuals who will help create a welcoming shopping experience for our diverse community of customers and donors. This role combines customer service, retail operations, and mission-driven work to support The Salvation Army's community programs. You'll be an essential part of our team, transforming donations into resources that directly support our mission of serving those in need in our community.

Pay Rate : $12.00-$13.00/ per hour

Status: Part-time, up to 28 hours per week

Shift: 2:30pm-6:30pm, includes Saturday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers and offering assistance
• Process sales transactions accurately using our Point of Sale system including opening, closing, and balancing
• Maintain store appearance through cleaning, organizing, and restocking
• Help meet daily production goals by processing and displaying new merchandise
• Contribute to a positive shopping environment
• Must also have one or more these three duties:
• Bank Running (requires reliable transportation)
• Cross trained in other Departments

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or currently pursuing
• Strong English communication skills for customer and team interactions
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems
• Ability to work a flexible schedule. Including evenings/night, holidays, & weekends.
• Professional appearance and adherence to dress code
• Reliable and team-oriented mindset
• Reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Capability to move throughout the store
• Physical ability to handle merchandise and maintain store appearance

Training and Development

• Expected POS system proficiency within 3 months
