Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, and values. Responsibilities include store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care.

Job Responsibilities

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions.
• Prepare online orders for pickup and ensure a smooth experience.
• Care for store pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support pricing changes and promotions.
• Stage and sort new products.
• Replenish and recover products on the sales floor.
• Recommend and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer medications to store pets as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoptions and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for all.
• Take immediate action if a sick or injured pet is identified.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.
• Participate in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear; vision abilities include depth perception.
• Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasionally team lift over 100 pounds.
• Expose to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and moderate noise levels; exposure to live animals is common.
