Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s core values. Responsibilities include store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care.

Job Responsibilities

• Enhance pet parent experience in store, over the phone, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions.
• Prepare online orders for pickup.
• Care for store pets, including feeding and habitat cleaning.
• Maintain store cleanliness and organize new products.
• Assist with merchandise sales and promotions.
• Administer pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote store events and ensure safety standards.
• Respond to sick or injured pets promptly.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.
• Participate in company culture initiatives.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb, and handle objects; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear; perform vision tasks.
• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly; team lift over 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving parts, wet environments, pet hair, and animal handling.
