Job summary

Responsibilities

• Greet and consult customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
• Demonstrate and explain merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for customers’ needs.
• Answer customer questions about merchandise and assist with purchase decisions.
• Accurately complete sales using the POS system according to established procedures.
• Organize and effectively merchandise items for sale.
• Stock and rotate product.
• Assist in keeping the store clean.
• Assemble and organize products and displays.
• Assist customers with loading and unloading products as needed.
• Process returns and exchanges.
• Utilize customer-focused selling skills, add-on selling, closing skills, and other sales-generating skills.
• Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes, and continuously develop skills.
• Collaborate, communicate well, and effectively relay information with an emphasis on positive professional relationships.
• Practice punctual and reliable attendance.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrate basic computer skills, including navigating websites and receiving/sending emails
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend, stoop, and kneel frequently
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 pounds
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Product knowledge preferred in one or more of: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, horse/equine, hardware, fencing, lawn & garden supplies, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, or wild bird supplies

Schedule

Part-time, typically 24–30 hours per week (schedule may vary). Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
